Formate - Installation
To install Formate:
-
Place the Compact Disc into your CD drive.
-
If your drive is configured to run the contents of the CD automatically when it detects a disc in the drive, the Formate Installer will start after a few seconds.
-
If the Installer doesn't appear, start up Windows Explorer and open the drive that contains the Formate Compact Disc. You should see the program Installer.exe listed there - open the program (normally by either single-clicking it if you have the browser-style desktop configuration, or by double-clicking it if you have a traditional Windows desktop). In essence, start the program in the same way you start other programs on your machine.
-
Once the Installer is running, you'll probably want to use the Help button to read the information about the programs that are available and what they do. While viewing that information, there is a License Agreement button that allows you to switch over to view the License Agreement that you'll be asked to agree to during installation. Once you are viewing that agreement, it has an Installation Help button that you can use to switch back to the previous page. When finished, you can simply close the help browser or minimise it and return to the Installer.
-
If the Help button doesn't work for any reason, the help pages are actually web pages and can be viewed by opening them manually in your web browser. They are in the HTML folder on the CD, and are called install_help.htm and License.htm.
-
Once you are ready to proceed, press one of the large buttons on the installer dialog to start installing the selected Formate program, then follow the instructions that appear. You may be asked to reboot your PC at the end of the installation, in which case you will have to restart the Installer afterwards if you still have other Formate programs to install.
-
Once all your programs are installed, you can close the Installer and remove the Compact Disc from the drive, placing it in its case for safe keeping. Do keep it to hand, however, as you will be asked for the serial number and license key (which are on the disk) the first time you start one of the Formate programs on each machine.
-
If the Installer program fails to install one or more of the programs, you may want to try running the individual setup programs manually. Each program has its own folder on the CD, containing a file called setup.exe, which should be run to install that program. The folders are AS400Spooler for the AS/400 Spooler program, Config for the Configuration program, MDAC for the Microsoft Data Access Components, Server for the Server program and Viewer for the Viewer program.
-
Each program comes with comprehensive on-line help that can be used once the installation is complete. You may wish to read it as an introduction to the product. Enjoy!
